DTA on the Hill
On April 24th and 25th, more than 30 DTA members and staff met with Congressional representatives in Washington, D.C. to voice concern about two issues affecting every dental manufacturer and supplier: the medical device excise tax and Sunshine Act.
The DTA Washington Conference was held because meeting face to face with lawmakers is always more effective than letters or e-mails. This event gave DTA the opportunity to stimulate interest and answer questions directly. The elected officials were impressed that DTA members were willing to give up their time to come to Washington to express their views of the issues faced by the dental trade.
The elected officials DTA members met with were open and engaged and we believe our visits made an impact. However, it’s now time to wait and see. Congressional action on health reform and tax issues is not expected to occur until late in 2012, perhaps after the November elections.
DTA would like to thank the following member companies who sent representatives: A-dec, Inc., Aegis Communication, Axis SybronEndo, DENTSPLY International, DMG America, Drake Precision Laboratories, Henry Schein, Hu-Friedy, J. Morita, DentalEZ, L&R Manufacturing, Meisinger USA, Midmark Corporation, Nashville Dental, Porter Instruments, Patterson Dental, Premier Dental Products Company, Shofu Dental, and Young Innovations, Inc.
