2008 Annual Meeting Activities Lots of fun activities for everyone Register On-Line Now for these DTA Activities! Spaces are limited for some events, so sign up as soon as possible! WEDNESDAY: we'll have our golf tournament, tennis, plus a special guided tour of the USS Midway. 
GOLF: The DTA Golf Tournament with boxed lunch will be from 1:30 pm - 6:00 pm. Cost is $200.00.
Golf clubs may be rented for $85. 1:30 Departure time from Golf Starter Area.
The South Course is known for its lush tree lined fairways and flawless greens. Professional golfers call the last four holes of La Costa's South Course "The Longest Mile in Golf". Attire: collared shirts, long pants or walking shorts of "Bermuda length". No metal spikes, denim, t-shirts, tank tops, cut-off shorts or athletic shorts are allowed. TENNIS: Tennis players can enjoy themselves from 1:30 - 6:00 pm. $30 includes a boxed lunch. 1:30 Departure time from Tennis Pro Shop. La Costa Resort and Spa offers 17 hard and clay courts, staffed with seasoned professionals. Get ready to compete in DTA's annual tennis tournament! White soled court shoes recommended; running or black soled shoes are not permitted on the court. See more information about the La Costa tennis facilities. VIP USS MIDWAY TOUR: 
From 1:00 - 4:30 pm, enjoy a VIP tour of the USS Midway, the newest addition to San Diego's naval history.
The first carrier to be named after a WWII battle, the USS Midway participated in actions
from the Korean War and Vietnam War to as recent as Operation Desert Storm.
She was decommissioned for the last time at North Island Air Station in San Diego in 1992.
After the private tour, you'll have time to explore the museum on your own. There are 54 areas of the ship to visit, including a new area they are calling "Officer's Country", plus fire stations, a laundry room, the Brig (Jail), Quarters, Kitchen and Dining Halls. This tour includes a boxed lunch. $75. 1:00 pm departure from Spa Curb. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes for walking. Remember to bring sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and your camera. Children must be at least 7 years old or older to participate in the VIP Midway Tour. There are ladders to climb which might be difficult for some children. Learn more about the USS Midway  Wednesday evening, 7:30 - 11:30, features a special "drive-in movie" night at La Costa, showing "Pursuit of Happyness", the movie inspired by Christopher Gardner, our closing speaker. Grab some popcorn and hang out in your own "convertible" golf cart, or seat yourself at picnic benches or traditional tables on the Upper Terrace Lawn. You'll view the movie on an enormous 12 foot inflatable screen, complete with state-of-the-art sound. The drive-in movie theater (located near the tennis center) will open at 7:30 p.m. Traditional movie food fare buffet will be available. Enjoy popcorn, candy, hotdogs and drinks - including adult beverages! THURSDAY: America's Cup Yacht From 1:00 - 5 pm, you can experience the thrill of sailing a first class, multi-million dollar, technically-advanced IACC authentic America's Cup Class racing yacht! Participants will experience the thrill of victory as they sail with America's Cup crewmembers. Sit back, relax and hold on to your hat as you glide quietly at 11 knots on San Diego Bay. It's by far the finest and fastest sailing experience America's Finest City has to offer! Dress in warm layered clothing, and remember to bring sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and your camera. $200 includes a boxed lunch. 1:00 pm Departure time from the Spa Curb. Wild Animal Park "Photo Caravan" Tour Kids of all ages will love San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park "Photo Caravan" Tour with boxed lunch from 1:00 - 5:00 pm for $150. 1:00 pm Departure time from the Spa Curb. 
In this 1,800 acre wildlife preserve located in the San Pasqual Valley, a special Wild Animal Park guide will accompany each Photo Caravan to narrate and identify wildlife while pointing out interesting animal habitats and natural behaviors. You'll have the opportunity to go nose-to-nose with a rhinoceros, look a sky-high giraffe in the eye and have breathtaking close-ups of gazelles, impalas, Cape buffalos, zebras, gnus, oryxes and ostriches. FRIDAY: An Afternoon at the Races 
Join fellow DTA members on a trip to the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Race Track, "playground for the stars", where the famous Seabiscuit-Ligaroti match race took place in 1938. Enjoy a fantastic view of the horses, jockeys, trainers and owners preparing for each race in the scenic paddock from this private restaurant. This will be an ideal ambiance for an exciting afternoon and early evening at the races. A hosted bar and dinner will be served with a track side view. Children of all ages are invited, but must be accompanied by an adult. Please note that the legal betting age in California is 18 years or older. 2:15 pm - 8:45 pm $75.00. 2:15 pm Departure time from the Spa Curb. KIDS and TEENS 
For Tuesday and Thursday nights, we'll have activities for the younger kids and teens. For younger kids, there's Kidtopia - 6,000 square feet of world-class adventure. Youngsters can follow an activity path through a magical forest, observe sea creatures in an "underwater" wonderland, dance on an interactive lighted game floor and much more. Tuesday during the opening reception: We will be hosting a Pirate Party with activities that will include face painting, balloon animals, scavenger hunt, arts & crafts and a popular movie. Thursday during the closing dinner On Thursday evening, we will be hosting a "Welcome to the Islands" Party with activities that will include lei making, limbo contest, Hawaiian clothes relay, water balloon toss (weather permitting) and a popular movie. For the 12 - 17 set, Vibz is an exclusive teen lounge. An ultra-cool "mine" design gives it an underground vibe.
