DTA Members get $750 Credit
In 2008, every DTA member company will receive a credit of $750 towards purchase of products or participation in most of our programs. (See a list of eligible programs and services). This credit is possible because of the tremendous support of members like you. The DTA is financially secure. Our last two years have been very successful and we are sharing that success with every member.

This is the first step. The Board of Directors is studying our dues structure and our programs to ensure a good value for all members. Additionally, in 2008, we will conduct a study of our members to learn how you feel about the DTA, its programs and its services. Our intent is to make DTA stronger and develop programs that help you run a successful business.

We hope members will use the $750 credit to attend the DTA Annual Meeting or to try a program or service that you haven't used in the past. But however you use the credit, we know you will benefit from participation in DTA activities. Our goal is to make the market stronger and your business more successful.


Drug Pedigree Expands beyond FDA
Last month we distributed a summary of the FDA's implementation plan for Drug Pedigree requirements. Over the course of the last three years, many states have begun programs to require drug pedigrees and many of the programs are more onerous than the FDA's requirements. We are in the process of researching the state issue, but need your help. If you have specific information about state activities to require drug pedigrees please forward that information to the DTA office. We will produce a report on state activities soon.


DTA Member Lounge to Debut at Yankee Dental Congress
The DTA will provide an exclusive member-only lounge at four trade shows in 2008. The lounge will provide a less crowded venue for members to relax, have a snack or soft drink and check e-mail (use one of our computers or bring your own - we'll have 8 ports available). Details on the location will be sent to all members in January.


DTA to Host "Trade Show Strategies" Workshop - Wednesday, January 30th at the Yankee Dental Congress
DTA is reprising a successful workshop - "Trade Show Strategies" on Wednesday, January 30th at the new Boston Convention Center prior to the start of the 2008 Yankee Dental Congress in Boston. Due to the many requests to offer this workshop on the east coast, DTA is presenting a one day workshop (Hours: 8 am to 2 pm) to help companies get a handle on trade show budgets, set obtainable goals, control costs and increase sales at shows. There will be a detailed segment on booth staffing and how to eliminate common mistakes by dental companies on the trade show floor.

Speakers include Marty Smith from Ethnometrics, Inc. Marty has been a consultant to the ADA for three years. His use of video cameras at dental meetings has helped exhibitors and show organizers redefine their message. Joining Marty is Anita Sirianni, President of ANSIR International and a leading sales trainer in the dental industry, as well as Steve Merrick, a successful sales and marketing director for Septodont, Inc.

New DTA Market Data Report - US Dental Procedures Paid by Dental Insurance Providers
DTA announces a new report outlining the number of dental procedures performed and reimbursed under dental insurance plans for all fifty states and most major US metropolitan areas. This report provides data on hundreds of dental procedures and includes the frequency of each procedure plus the average cost of each procedure, by percentile. The data comes directly from the pool of dental insurance plan underwriters. The data represents a twelve month period from third quarter 2006 through third quarter 2007 and is available on compact disk.

Companies may use this data to determine if certain dental office procedures are increasing or decreasing as they forecast sales for the next several years. Cost is $1595 and includes an executive summary from Richard Fishbane, Vice president of Strategic Dental Marketing. 2008 World Dental Trade Conference Theme is "Expanding Global Markets"
The 2008 World Dental Trade Conference takes place Thursday, February 21st at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago, adjacent to McCormick Place, home to the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting. The 2008 theme is "Expanding Global Markets". Attendees will get detailed information about growing dental markets in India and the Middle East.

Speakers include Mr. Lazar Piro of Piro Trading (Middle East Dental Markets) and Dr. Arun Nayyar (India), plus special guest speaker Mr. Michael Howard from the Export Import Bank of the United States. Mr. Howard will discuss rating risk when exporting and how dental companies can manage and minimize risk.

DTA Distributor Breakfast on Friday, February 22nd at the Chicago Midwinter Meeting
DTA is hosting a Dental Distributor Breakfast on Friday, February 22nd at the Omni Hotel Chicago, 676 N. Michigan Avenue during the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting. The breakfast is from 7:30 to 9:00 am and features a full breakfast, plus a special program for dental distributors. Distributors will enjoy a demonstration of better tools to attract, retain, train and provide a larger pool of benefits for key employees and sales professionals. Anita Sirianni from ANSIR International and Shawn McCall from the Assurance Agency will offer a brief program to assist distributors with employee retention and means to increase sales. DTA Annual Meeting Chair, Lori Paulson will provide a sneak peek of the 2008 DTA Annual Meeting at the La Costa Resort near San Diego, CA. DTA Preview Show - Thursday, February 21st at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place
Dental Trade Alliance Preview Show. The DTA Preview Show is set for Thursday, February 21st at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in the Hotel Ballroom. This is the best business-to-business meeting in the US for manufacturers looking for new dealer contacts. 100 manufacturers will feature table top displays of products, equipment and services for the dental industry. Representatives from more than one thousand US and international dental dealers will attend the Preview Show and meet with exhibitors to discuss new markets and private label opportunities.

Table top displays are still available for manufacturers interested in exhibiting at the Preview Show. Companies must be DTA members to exhibit. The cost for a table top display is $900.
