Mini-Dental School® West Educates and Connects
Recently, 19 employees from DTA member companies gathered at the University Of Colorado School Of Dental Medicine for Mini-Dental School West. In addition to learning about the language and specialties of dentistry, the attendees were treated to significant time in the teaching lab where they practiced decay removal with handpieces, applying acrylic filings, conducting intra-oral digital scans, and learning endodontic root canal procedures.
“A few of my colleagues attended the DTA Mini Dental School in prior years,” said Microcopy’s Heather Siler. “You never understand how beneficial this program is until you actually take it. The lectures were interesting and so informative. I learned a lot about Dentistry including terminology, dental procedures, business practices, new technologies and so much more.”
The mini-dental schools are held each year, one at the University of Colorado and one at the University of Maryland, and the two-day sessions provide insights into the knowledge and skills that dental professionals receive in dental school with an emphasis on hands-on learning experiences. In addition, the schools give DTA members the opportunity to connect to others in the dental industry as gain a new perspective on the industry that can be helpful no matter what their day-to-day job requirements are.
“The combination of knowledge, passion and teaching ability made this a perfect learning opportunity for the dental novice as well as a seasoned professional,” said Patterson Dental Category Manager Taylor Callais.
Each of the mini-dental school programs have proven valuable to DTA members and are among the most utilized member benefits. Participation is limited to 20 participants and Mini-Dental School West and Mini-Dental School East sell out quickly. The Mini-Dental School East will be held July 29-30 at the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry. Click here to register.
